On August 21, 2025, the University of Jakarta International (UNIJI), in collaboration with Kemanggisan Village, held a social activity with the local PKK women’s community. This event was part of UNIJI’s community service program, highlighting the university’s active role in providing useful knowledge and practical solutions for daily life.
During the event, lecturers from the School of Management – Beauty & Health Business program conducted a workshop on processing used cooking oil into eco-friendly soap. In addition to hands-on practice, participants also received important education on how household waste oil can be repurposed rather than harming the environment. This simple initiative proves that academic knowledge can be directly applied to improve community well-being.
Beyond health and environmental concerns, this spirit of community service is also aligned with other study programs at UNIJI. For instance, the School of Data Science could contribute by teaching simple analytics for household financial records within PKK groups, while the School of Psychology could provide guidance to strengthen mental resilience and teamwork in communities. In this way, such activities can expand further and touch various aspects of people’s lives.
The event also featured the signing of an MoU between UNIJI and Kemanggisan Village, serving as a concrete step for continuous collaboration. In line with the celebration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, this activity reflects compassion, solidarity, and the academic community’s commitment to care for society—similar to UNIJI’s previous initiative with deaf ride-hailing drivers and women entrepreneurs.
Through these ongoing programs, UNIJI seeks to encourage students, lecturers, and the broader public to view community service not only as a social initiative but also as an academic activity that enriches learning experiences while creating a meaningful impact.
