UNIJI students had a blast getting creative at the “Make Your Own Tangyuan” workshop on Thursday, March 5, from 11:30 to 13:00 on the 8th Floor of Jakarta International Tower. This interactive event brought together UNIJI students who were excited to dive into Chinese culinary culture and make their own sweet rice dumplings.
Tangyuan, a traditional Chinese dessert made from glutinous rice flour and often enjoyed during celebrations, represents togetherness, unity, and happiness. During the workshop, participants learned how to shape colorful tangyuan balls and fill them with various delicious ingredients. With the help of instructors, students mixed ingredients, rolled out the dough, and experimented with different flavors while enjoying the lively atmosphere.

Besides learning a new recipe, the event became a fun social space where students connected, laughed, and shared their creations. With gloves on and ingredients ready, participants experienced the joy of making food together turning a simple dessert into a memorable cultural exchange.
This event open only to UNIJI regular program students, had a limited number of spots, making it a highly anticipated activity on campus. Many students were excited about the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Asian culinary traditions while enjoying a hands-on experience outside the classroom.
Through activities like this, UNIJI continues to promote multicultural learning and student engagement, creating opportunities for students to explore global cultures in an interactive way.
Stay tuned for more exciting campus events and cultural workshops from UNIJI.
